Fly Brake Cables

Fly Bikes have a new cable available and as you'd expect from Fly it's not an 'off the shelf' product. Instead Fly have gone back to the drawing board and incorporated all the features they could muster in order to make the ultimate 'linear' style cable. See below for more details;

CASING AND CABLE
The linear housing casing, Teflon lined and coated cable provide you with all the features that you need, Stiff brake power, smooth performance, kink resistant and good braking even with the cable twisted after a tail whip or bar spin.

END CAPS
We designed the end caps with a cone shape inside for two reasons:
  • Most of the time the cable goes through the middle of housing very smooth but not on the ends. On these places sometimes the housing wires get in the way with the cable and this can cause the smooth performance of brake to fail. So this cone shape opens up the housing wires avoiding this.
  • Sometimes the housing wires go through the end cap hole once again this can ruin the smooth performance of brake. This can not happen with this cone shape.
To achieve this shape this part is CNC machined out of 6061-T6 so this is the reason why this brake cable is slightly more expensive than the rest. They also have a nice mid size length and come in anodized colors matching the housing.

Barcodes

Nothing to do with the ubiqutous T1 frame of the mid-noughties.....many of you would have received Proper stock over the past few days and noticed the addition of barcodes on the packaging. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone with an EPOS system. If you'd like to get a list of product codes, descriptions, and bar code numbers then email Jamie@IMGdistribution.co.uk. Alternatively they're on the GS1 database. The Proper prefix is 506023076.

Flatware Jam

You can find more on that at 75Degrees and on Global Flat. Below is a brief interview with the winner (Kelan Phillips).

Thanks for turning up on Saturday, seems like it was worth turning up in the end. You got a surprise visit from your aunty and uncle, and you won the competition…congratulations!

What was going through your mind Saturday morning, with all the doom and gloom weather reports?

I wasn’t bothered about the weather, if it rained, then everybody would be in the same boat, I have been to a lot of contests around the world, so if there’s one in the UK I’m there for sure!

Ok, so the dance floor wasn’t brilliant, but you managed to keep your runs together, where others had a hard time. How did you manage this?

I managed on the floor because I just toned down the difficult of the tricks, so I could be more consistant.

You don’t enter a lot of comps so why this one? And do you think we need more comps in this country?

I used to go to every comp there was, anywhere in the world, but you cant make a living from doing that, so I took a break the last year or 2 and don’t enter that many, and yes for sure we need loads more stuff going on in this country, that’s why I started my own contest each year now in the UK. The more stuff here the better.

What’s your take on the UK flatland scene as the moment?

The UK scene is cool, just needs to be a few more events, but that’s happening now. Everybody in the UK gets on and can have a laugh. Seems the TGM guys have the best place/scene in the UK.

You do a lot of shows around the country with your company Inertia. So you must have a good idea of what the public’s general reaction to flatland is? For example, Luton’s weekend shoppers seemed perplexed at first, but gradually got behind their favourite riders.

Yeah I guess the publics first impression will be like 'who are these kids messing around on bikes?' but once they see just 1 or 2 tricks, they can see that we take it serious, its difficult and cool, then they get into it!

Any shout outs or last words?

Yeah, shout out to all the riders in the UK, its good that we all get together to comps/events in this country,

Oh, what you going to spend the money on?

The moneys just gonna go towards a new ride… peace.
