KC Badger

Interbike 2008. I fell asleep waiting for everyone to move their asses and woke up to find they'd left without me. Luckily Garrett Scobie had a phone on him. They were at a bar down the strip called The Griffin. After delaying the inevitable with dumb thoughts of an early night I set off. Garrett said it was 10 minutes, so I pictured it somewhere near Circus Circus...after walking for over an hour I called Garrett, he meant 10 minutes in a cab and I was still miles away in a sketchy part of old Vegas sometime in the early hours. I arrived to find a 16 year old Joey Calderone outside wasted, Shane Rieder asleep in his own vomit, Mike Miller working his way through the cocktail menu, Jon Edwards leaving with some girl who gave him $200 of gambling chips, a bunch of people younger than me with full sleeve tattoos, and Jon (IMG's accountant) and Garrett propping up the bar like a couple of veterans. It was the only time I ever met KC Badger and he seemed like a good dude. Here's his bike;

For all the people asking for the 'fire engine' red parts (see KC's wheels).....those are coming this Spring.

JCPC Inspection

I found this cool little video while looking for details on the JCPC pedal. Note the bushings, size of the axle (hence the lifetime warranty), and replaceable mixed sides. Making this the last pedal you'll ever need to replace as a whole......especially if you have a broken wrist.

20 Greatest Hits (Part 3)

Fly's new cobra tube is an ingenious way to avoid the dreaded 'walk home' that we've all experienced at some point or another. Carry a cobra tube and all you need to find is a garage with an airline and you're set. The tube is not a ring like a traditional tube, it's a one long tube that can be easily threaded into your wheel and overlaps at the ends to limit any potential 'dead spot' if you case where the ends of tube join.

Odyssey's classic PC pedals are currently available in Black, White, Ocean Blue, Seafoam, clear Gold, and this.....it's called Rootbeer.

This one went almost unoticed with all the snow of late. Odyssey complete wheels in all white - that's 9t V3 cassette hub, Hazard Light rims, and Odyssey spokes in white....all set off by green Odyssey rim strips.

Fly 22mm Spanish BB kits now include cups, bearings, and the spacer tube . This one is obviously black but you can choose from red, white, purple or black.
These are the Kevin Kalkoff signature Lago bars. 29" wide and 8.5" rise and flat black or olive green. 1 degree of upsweep and 12 back. Kevin is from Annecy, France which has a beautiful hence the Lago (lake).

20 Greatest Hits (Part 2)

JCPC's are finally available in the UK in either black or white. These pedals are a relatively high end purchase for a plastic pedal (at a shade under £40 rrp), however, it's worth considering that with cheap replacements bodies, axles, and pins available now, these pedals are probably the last you'll ever need to buy as a whole. The bushings (in place of bearings) will also prelong the pedal's life expectancy considerably.

Ruben Graphite pedals are the brand new hot shit of the plastic pedal market. Lighter than usual PC's and featuring a knurled surfaced, broached axles, and quality packaging.

Agua forks from Fly Bikes. 2 year warranty, integrated drop outs, a simple (but awesome) machined top cap, clean understated graphics, and a choice of colours. Perfect. Look out for imitations.....coming soon!

Some solid new colours for Proper's popular Team grips. These are softer than the clear ones. They come with black bar ends but I'm sure we'll see a few with people switch to the white ones to rep football teams. Red with white bar ends.......Premiership here we come.

Fly Bikes new Alta stem is a 'jack of all trades' top load or bottom load (if you flip it). Fly cleverly left the threads closed so it looks dope either way up.
